Age of Opportunity This project engages people who are 50+ and who have low or no skills, to support them in moving towards employment. Age of Opportunity is focused on the barriers to training, work and employment, and addressing these barriers.
Invest in Youth This project supports young people aged 15-24 who are not in employment, education or training, to achieve long term engagement with work or further learning. This may include managing and overcoming barriers such motivational support and health issues.
Changing Futures Changing Futures supports people who are most at risk of exclusion from the labour market to identify, reduce and remove their barriers to employment. The project focuses on areas where there are high levels of poverty, and target groups most in need of improved support.
Participants build lasting networks of support and help to develop skills to enable them to move towards learning and work. The project also aims to improve participants’ confidence, self-esteem, motivation, health and wellbeing.
Disability Advice West Lancs is a delivery partner in three Building Better Opportunities projects in Lancashire. These are part of the nationwide Building Better Opportunities programme which brings together funding from the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund (ESF) to help tackle the poverty and social exclusion faced by the most disadvantaged people in England.
Over three years, these specialist projects will help transform the lives of 3,270 disadvantaged people providing tailored support to their individual needs and interest to overcome their barriers and move toward work and training.
