What we do
The following are just a few of the areas that we cover. If the subject you are interested in is not listed, please contact us and our volunteers are always willing to help find the information you need.
The Helpline keeps up-to-date records of the many clubs, societies and organisations for disabled people and their carers, locally and nationally.
We hold up-to-date information on organisations that arrange travel insurance and accessible holidays for disabled people and their carers.
We provide information on suppliers dealing with disability equipment, places where equipment can be tried out and the availability for hire.
If we cannot help you directly, we hold a database of contacts from a wide range of local and national organisations who are specialised in all areas of disability.
We can provide computer-assisted benefits checks, advice and form-filling, fully tailored to individual needs.
We can provide limited telephone advice relating to appeals. Unfortunately we can no longer accompany clients to appeals.
We can give information on paying for home care, the Independent Living Fund and Direct Payments and refer to the relevant agencies as appropriate.
Provision of information regarding appropriate accommodation, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit and Local Housing Allowance.
If you need to know about the Blue Badge Scheme, the Motability Scheme, accessible transport or any mobility issue that can help you plan your journey, we have information that can help.
